I believe that your logo design is the face of your business. It’s the pinnacle of our branding, it tells everyone what the company is, it’s arguably the most important part of a company’s branding, design-wise.
When designing your logo there is a lot of unmeasurable hours that go into it; thinking up a company name, deciding your colors and fonts, envisioning your brand. All of these important branding elements work up to your logo.
That process could be weeks or even months! But here’s some good news, once you have done all that hard work, the actual process of designing a logo should only take around 15-20 hours.

Let’s break the process down by steps:
Step 1: Find a designer
I recommend you find a branding expert to provide you with a brand that is completely cohesive from the logo to the website! Investing in your brand and business is one of the best things you can do. Start with your logo! You want a designer who is going to provide you with custom mood boards and brand style guides which include your colors, fonts, patterns, and textures.
Step 2: Concept call
These are my favorite! Finding your brand identity is so important, your designer should have a step by step process to create a custom brand identity and strategy. On this call, you should be discussing concepts that you have thought of, other brands that catch your eye, color palettes, font styles, and any general inspiration that you want for your brand. The conception of your logo could potentially be the most time-consuming aspect of your design.
Step 3: First design proof
Once you have landed on your brand concept, it’s time to create! Yay! This should be a quick turnaround, maybe a day depending on how busy your designer is. I send between 2-3 initial logo design variations to approve but some designers may present more or less depending on their process.
Step 4: Revisions
This is inevitable, very rarely is there a logo designed that is accepted on the first draft. So, don’t feel discouraged if you have revisions for your designer! If you have taken the time to really flesh out your concept, the revisions should be small and simple!
Step 5: Approval and launch
Once you have landed on that perfect logo of your dreams, you are one step closer to launching your brand and your business! Congrats!

As you can see the 15-20 hours mentioned previously are going to be broken up into many small increments, and depending on the number of revisions, maybe a tad longer. However, a logo design should span through about a week.
Without a doubt, the most important part is making sure you have a concept for your logo that also includes the rest of your brand. Some people are more indecisive than others during this process and that’s okay, but make sure you don’t rush through the conception to get a quicker result. Your brand will thank you!
